Visual Information
Engineering 2008
The IET has organised 5 International
conferences addressing the converging areas that together make
the field of Visual Information Engineering.
These
conferences bring together researchers, developers, creators,
educators, and practitioners in image processing, machine
vision, computer graphics, virtual and augmented environments,
and visual communications to share their latest achievements
and explore future directions and synergies in these exciting
areas.
The 5th IET Visual
Information Engineering 2008 Conference (VIE'08)
addresses the fundamental elements of image, video and
graphics research and development.
This years event
focuses on the key technical areas include the growing
convergence of computer graphics and computer vision/image
processing which is an increasingly important area in
commercial multimedia applications development.
Recent research in
visual information engineering has focused on investigating
several interactions of state-of-the-art visual information
retrieval, image/video-based modelling and rendering,
image/video analysis, graphics, visualisation, animation,
and synthetic image generation and manipulation. New
opportunities for medical imaging and healthcare, virtual
environments, motion analysis and tracking and event
detection for surveillance are emerging that exploit the
visual aspects of multimedia. At the same time, the growing
convergence of computer graphics and computer vision/image
processing which is an increasingly important area in
commercial multimedia applications development. Finally,
ensuring security, privacy and rights management in
multimedia communications over such distributed and
reconfigurable environments is of increased importance.
VIE
2008 is sure to provide the ideal opportunity for researchers,
practitioners and educators in the VIE community to share
results and advancements in a high quality, peer reviewed
environment. Accepted papers will be published in the
Conference Proceedings. The Conference Proceeding will be indexed by EI. Extended versions of VIE papers will be reviewed and
considered for publication in Special Issues of the IET Image Processing, IET
Computer Vision (formerly IEE Proceedings Vision, Image and Signal Processing)
and the EURASIP journal on Image and Video Processing.
At the excellent Xi'an International
Conference Center in Xi'an, China, this event will create an important
networking forum in which academic and industrial participants
can discuss the future of VIE technologies and the convergence
of imaging technologies with other domains.
